McCloud's Video

After watching the video from class, I was astonished to see how complex the art of making comics really was. The main message McCloud was trying to convey to his audience, was that comics aren't just what they appear to be. Comics often times have hidden meanings, messages, opinions/ideas, and use symbols and icons. McCloud also explains to the audience that often times, readers fill in the gaps between sections. I found this very interesting. I also liked how McCloud talked about viewing comics on monitors instead of paper and how a turn on the comic strip on the monitor can be a turn in the story. McCloud is a very intellectual person, who knows how to capture his audience with humor and his intellectual ideas.
