Project #1 in Progress Report

As I have started to begin my project, I have been gathering together texts that will help support my argument that it is not possible to be objective when writing a paper. Some of the resources include Elbow's writings. Other authors that will prove as evidence in my paper include "Bias in Writing Objective-Type Examination Questions", by William E. Mitchell. Another helpful publication is "Exploring Bias in the Writing Workshop", by Prageeta Sharma and "Subjective and objective writing", by Catharine Barrett.

I feel that gathering resources and doing research will be most effective when writing my paper. I plan on analyzing various pieces of supposed "objective" writings, and looking into the word usage and layout of the text. By looking into technical writings, such as manuals, I can have support for a counter-argument. Having a counter-argument is probably the biggest obstacle that I will face when writing and trying to support my thesis.

The workshop was very helpful to my paper. I think that we should keep having them, so that we can get an outsider's opinion on our papers. Wes did a great job of helping point out what things I was doing well on, and things that I needed to improve. Constructive criticism is one of the most effective ways to improve one's writing.
